The Project
Save the Children’s child protection programs are an important part of their work. All over the world, they have programs dedicated to keeping children safe. Each year they run an appeal to educate the public of the violence that many children suffer, what Save the Children does to help protect children and to inspire people to help by donating to the appeal.
The Solution
For this appeal, the focus was on street kids in Bangladesh and the horrors they face every day. After reading the case studies of a few children I focused my concept on the idea that these children were living in a nightmare. Their stories didn’t seem as though they could be real. There were no heroes, only evil villains. Playing on that idea I wanted to present their real-life stories in a graphic novel style where the reader could affect the outcome. The donor had the power to keep vulnerable children safe, to become the hero.
My Role
After consulting with the stakeholders on campaign objective and theme I provided initial concepts. Once the final concept was approved I provided creative direction to the senior designer and illustrator on the project, making sure that every element of the campaign was on brief and on time.
